Interventional Mental Health
Interventional Mental Health
Interventional Mental Health is a new specialty of medicine that seeks to use specialized procedures to treat mental health disorders. Some patients struggling with mental health disorders may find that conventional therapies such as pharmacotherapies and psychotherapies do not produce sufficient relief of their symptoms. At Hudson Medical, our team of physicians can perform cutting-edge procedures and infusions to help alleviate symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, Depression and Chronic Pain.
By working in conjunction with your mental health professionals to derive treatment plans tailored to a specific condition, we provide intervention-assisted mindfulness-based treatments options with synergistic and potentiated therapeutic benefits.
What We Can Do
Hudson Medical + Wellness committed to staying current in Interventional Mental Health research so we can implement novel treatment options to help our patients live a higher quality life. In addition to our current therapies, we are also keenly interested in the future role that psychedelics such as Psilocybin and MDMA will play in this field. We are a research facility for some of these ongoing clinical trials. Through many years of experience and hundreds of patients treated, we are confident that we are entering a new paradigm of treating mental health disorders.
We now offer Stellate Ganglion Blocks and Intravenous Ketamine Infusions through our Interventional Mental Health program.
Stellate Ganglion Blocks (SGB)
Stellate Ganglion Blocks are a minimally-invasive procedure shown to treat sympathetic nervous system-related disorders, including PTSD (1). PTSD is a chronic and often debilitating mental health disorder that results after exposure to traumatic events. Conventional PTSD treatments include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and pharmacological treatment options (antidepressants, antipsychotic drugs, mood stabilizers, and/or other agents) (2, 3). For some PTSD patients, traditional treatments do not provide sufficient symptom relief.
The Stellate Ganglion Block procedure offered by Hudson Medical + Wellness provides an innovative and effective treatment option for such individuals.Learn More
Ketamine IV Treatment
Intravenous (IV) Ketamine Infusions have been implemented in treatment plans of individuals struggling with depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), acute pain, chronic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), headaches, seizures, reducing postoperative pain scores and opioid requirements, reducing opioid-resistant cancer pain (refractory cancer pain), and alcohol and substance use disorders. The clinical applications of ketamine infusions are extensive, and current research even suggests ketamine therapy may be warranted for use in the treatment of severe anorexia nervosa, an eating disorder with no known effective pharmacological or behavioral treatment.
Depressive disorders can be severely debilitating and conventional depression treatment does not always provide adequate or timely symptom relief for patients. IV Ketamine Infusions have been shown to significantly and rapidly improve depressive symptoms, even for patients with treatment resistant depression. Similarly, IV Ketamine Infusions have been demonstrated to effectively treat many types of chronic pain, including treatment of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). Prior to the discovery of ketamine as a CRPS treatment, the multifactorial nature of this chronic pain disorder posed difficult barriers to treating patients. By using IV Ketamine Infusions, we are able to provide significant and fast-acting analgesic relief to patients struggling to overcome chronic pain symptoms.Learn More
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, TMS, is a safe and non-invasive treatment for Depression. It uses an MRI-strength magnet to stimulate under-active areas of the brain that control depression. The activation and stimulation of brain cells is a key part of why TMS is so effective. 83% of patients that completed their TMS treatment cycle saw measurable improvement in their depression symptoms.
We are proud to partner with NeuroStar to provide this safe, effective, and drug-free treatment for depression. Neurostar is the #1 physician-recommended TMS Therapy for the treatment of depression. It is a proven treatment option for adults who have depression and have not responded to antidepressant therapy. NeuroStar's TMS machine was FDA-cleared in 2008 and is backed by more clinical studies for depression than any other TMS device.Learn More
